Week 5 of Year 1 "Our Father"

❖❖❖❖
Our Father

Students may read Matthew 6:5-15
Jesus took time to pray everyday. Sometimes he spent many hours in prayer. He would find a nearby, quiet place so that he could be alone to talk things over with his Father in heaven. One day, a disciple said to Jesus, “Lord, teach us to pray,” like John the Baptist taught his disciples. So, Jesus gave them a model prayer that became known as the Lord’s Prayer. The prayer begins with, “Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.”
Discussion Questions

Jesus encourages us to think of God as our loving, heavenly Father. What is good about this idea? What does it tell us about each other? We are reminded of this when we say “Our Father” together. Why do people pray at bedtime?
