Doubting Thomas
The first time Jesus appeared to the apostles, Thomas was absent. When Thomas heard about it, he declared that he would not believe until he saw Jesus with the marks of crucifixion on his body. About a week later, Jesus appeared to the apostles again. This time, however, Thomas was present. Jesus spoke directly to Thomas saying, “Be not faithless, but believing.” When Thomas heard these words, his doubts collapsed, and he exclaimed, “My Lord and my God!”
Thomas wanted to see evidence. What does that tell us about Thomas? Jesus said, “Thomas, because you have seen me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.” What does that mean for us?
