Week 7 of Year 5 "The Pool of Bethesda"

❖❖❖❖
The Pool of Bethesda

Students may read John 5:1-15
When Jesus was in Jerusalem, he went to the pool of Bethesda, which had five porches around it. There he saw the many sick and afflicted people who waited by the pool. They believed that when the water in the pool stirred and bubbled, the first one who entered the pool would be healed. One man had lain by the pool for many years because he couldn’t get up from his mat. But after he heard what Jesus said that day, he took up his bed and walked. This happened on the Sabbath.
Discussion Questions
Think about faith and effort. What can we learn from the words, “Take up your bed and walk”? We have a duty to put forth effort. When Jesus preached the good news to people, they often felt better in mind and body. Why?
