To the Apostles
Students may read John 20:19-23
On Sunday morning, the apostles heard reports that Jesus’ tomb was empty. They also heard from people who said they had actually seen Jesus. But the apostles were filled with doubt and fear. Finally on Sunday evening, Jesus appeared to the apostles. All of them were present except Thomas. It happened when they were inside the house that served as their hiding place. The doors were locked, but Jesus suddenly appeared among them saying, “Peace be with you.”
Discussion Questions
Jesus had promised his apostles many times that he would rise from the dead on the third day. Why did they not have faith in that promise? Can you think of some promises that Jesus makes, even now, to all of us?
