Healing the Paralytic
Students may read Mark 2:1-12
Something unusual happened when Jesus was speaking to a large crowd inside a house. Several men lowered a man on a bed through the roof of the house. When Jesus saw the paralyzed man, he said, “Son, your sins are forgiven.” The Pharisees in the crowd heard this and judged his words to be blasphemy. Jesus, knowing what they were thinking, said, “The Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins.” Then, at Jesus’ command, the paralyzed man arose and walked out.
Discussion Questions
The people were amazed at what happened, and they glorified God. But the Pharisees did not join in. Why? The paralyzed man received forgiveness of sin as well as healing for his body. Why do people say that forgiveness heals?
