Come and See

Students may read John 1:43-51
After spending some time with John the Baptist, Jesus headed back to Galilee. On the way, he encountered Philip and Nathanael. First, Jesus saw Philip and said, “Follow me.” Philip then went to Nathanael, who was sitting under a tree, and declared that he had found the Deliverer. Nathanael was doubtful. He asked, “Can anything good come out of Nazareth?” Philip replied, “Come and see.” When Nathanael met Jesus face-to-face, he also became a disciple.
Discussion questions

What was good about Philip’s reply? What do you think caused Nathanael to become a disciple? Jesus said of Nathanael, “Behold a genuine Israelite, in whom there is no deceit.” Jesus recognized that Nathanael was honest and sincere.
