Feeding the 5000
Students may read Mark 6:30-44
Jesus needed relief from the crowds, so he and his apostles left by boat for a place to rest. But the people soon found them, and Jesus spent the day teaching. As evening drew near, the disciples advised Jesus to send the people away to buy food. But Jesus had a different plan. He asked the disciples how much food they had and told everyone to sit down. Then, he miraculously provided food for five thousand people from a basket containing five loaves and two fishes.
Discussion Questions
Jesus was able to perform miracles, but he used his power carefully. Why do you think Jesus used his power on that day? No doubt, the people were thrilled to be given food to eat. What is the spiritual food that Jesus offers us?
