Show Us a Sign
Some time after the feeding of the five thousand, a group of Pharisees came to speak to Jesus. They demanded that Jesus give them a sign to prove that he had been sent by God to teach the people. Jesus knew they wanted to trap him and discredit him. He told them no sign shall be given to those who only pretend to have good intentions. Later, he warned his followers saying, “Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees.”
Can you give examples of the type of sign the Pharisees wanted? Why did Jesus refuse to give them a sign? The true followers of Jesus believed his teachings without “signs and wonders.” They were sincere, and they earnestly sought truth.
