Week 21 of Year 5 "The Lost Son"

❖❖❖❖
The Lost Son

Students may read Luke 15:11-32

Jesus told a story about a father and two sons. The younger son asked for his inheritance so he could move far away. He soon spent all his money foolishly and had to take a job feeding swine. Weary and hungry, he decided to ask his father if he could return as a servant. When the prodigal son’s father saw him on the road, his father joyfully embraced him and accepted him back as a son. Then, his father gave a feast to celebrate the return of his son, saying, “He was lost, and is found.”

Discussion Questions

How did the younger son feel about himself when he decided to return? When we hear how the father reacted to the return of his son, what is Jesus telling us about God? How did the older son feel about the celebration for his brother?
