The Bread of Life
Students may read John 6:25-59
The people looked for Jesus after he fed a crowd of five thousand with a small amount of bread and fishes. At last, they found him in Capernaum and heard him speak in the synagogue about the bread from heaven. He said this bread comes down from the Father and gives eternal life to his children on earth. Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life.” But the people were bewildered. They said, “Is this not Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know?”
Discussion Questions
When the people searched for Jesus, what were they hoping for? The bread of life is different from the bread we eat to nourish our bodies. The bread of life nourishes our souls. What is the soul? Jesus helps our souls to grow and flourish.
