The Transfiguration - Part 2
Students may read Luke 9:28-36
Jesus brought Peter, James, and John to a place on a high mountain. There, Jesus prayed, and the three disciples fell asleep. Upon awakening, they saw Jesus shining in heavenly light. They also saw two others standing with him and talking. This magnificent scene frightened the disciples, but Peter managed to say, “Let us make three tents, one for you and one for Moses and one for Elijah” Before Peter was done speaking, a bright cloud hovered over them, and they heard a divine voice.
Discussion Questions
Why do you think Jesus wanted Peter, James, and John to see this mysterious and magnificent scene? Talk about the two others who were standing with Jesus. Can you think of any reason why the scene of the transfiguration would include them?
