With the Pharisees - Part 2
Students may read Luke 14:1-14
Jesus went to the home of a Pharisee for a meal on the Sabbath. After everyone sat down, several things happened. First, Jesus healed a man with dropsy. Then, Jesus told a story about taking the lowest place at the table rather than the seat of honor. And finally, Jesus spoke about inviting people to a dinner. He said, “But when you give a banquet, invite the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind.” Remember those who cannot return your generosity.
Discussion Questions
Talk about what it means to be selfish and unselfish. Jesus wants us to do good to others without thought of what we will get in return. He said, “It is more blessed to give than to receive.” What are some examples of giving without receiving?
