Peter's Confession
Students may read Matthew 16:13-20
Jesus led the twelve disciples north toward Mount Hermon. As they neared the city of Caesarea-Philippi, Jesus stopped and asked his disciples an important question: “Who do men say that I am?” The disciples said people thought he might be John the Baptist or perhaps one of the prophets like Elijah or Jeremiah. Jesus then asked, “But who do you say that I am?” To this momentous question Peter declared, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”
Discussion Questions
From the beginning of his ministry, Jesus was known as the Son of Man. But now, he would be known as the Son of God. How does it help us to know Jesus as God’s Son? How can we know what is true and what is not true?
