Blessing the Children
Students may read Mark 10:13-16
After Jesus taught about marriage, many mothers brought their little children to Jesus. They wanted him to bless their children. But the disciples saw them coming and rebuked them. Jesus, however, became indignant and told his disciples to let the little children come. “Forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.” He went on to say that each person needs to enter the kingdom as a little child. Then, Jesus received the children, and he placed his hands upon them to bless them.
Discussion Questions
What does this story tell us about Jesus? Think about what it was like for the children to be in the personal presence of Jesus. How do you suppose they felt? When do people experience the presence of God?
