Week 28 of Year 1 "To Golgotha"

❖❖❖❖
To Golgotha

Students may read Mark 15:21-32

After Jesus was sentenced to die, the Roman soldiers led him to Golgotha for crucifixion. Women along the way weeped for Jesus, and he said, “Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for me, but weep for yourselves and for your children.” When Jesus fell under the weight of the crossbeam, a man named Simon was ordered to carry the burden for him. Simon was from Cyrene in northern Africa. He was simply passing by when this life-changing task was thrust upon him.

Discussion Questions

How do you think Simon felt when he was ordered to perform this task? People have long believed that Simon and his sons, Alexander and Rufus, became followers of Jesus. Why do some people become followers and others do not?
