Mary Magdalene
Students may read John 20:1-18
Mary Magdalene and other women went to Jesus’ tomb early on Sunday morning. They found that the stone had been rolled away, and the tomb was empty. The women quickly reported everything they had seen and heard to the apostles, who did not believe them. Peter and John, however, ran to the tomb to see for themselves. Mary Magdalene, who had returned to the garden, remained alone outside the tomb weeping. Jesus appeared to her and spoke to her.
Discussion Questions
Mary Magdalene was a follower of Jesus who witnessed his crucifixion, burial, and the empty tomb. Why do you think Mary returned to the empty tomb? Mary saw Jesus and also heard him speak. Why was it helpful to hear Jesus speak?
