Presentation in the Temple
Students may read Luke 2:22-38
Soon after the birth of Jesus, his parents brought him to Jerusalem and presented him to the priests in the temple. According to Jewish law, this was necessary for all first-born sons. They also offered a sacrifice for Mary’s purification. Two elderly people, named Simeon and Anna, were in the temple when the family arrived. When they beheld Jesus, they believed that he was the promised Messiah who would bring salvation to the Jewish people.
