My Peace
Students may read John 14:27 or all of verses 15-31
During the evening of the Last Supper, Jesus told his disciples that he would pour out his Spirit to teach and comfort them after he returned to heaven. He also promised he would give them a precious gift: the gift of his peace. He said, “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you.” Jesus knew the disciples would need his Spirit and his peace amid the difficulties and dangers that lay ahead. He said, “Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”
Discussion Questions
The peace of Jesus is an inner peace that we can experience at any time. What is the inner life? How can we become more receptive to Jesus’ peace? Jesus believed whole-heartedly in God’s loving care and sought to do God’s will.
