Week 4 of Year 2 "John the Baptist - Part 2"

❖❖❖❖
John the Baptist - Part 2

Students may read Matthew 11:1-10 or through verse 19

Sometime after Jesus’ baptism, John was arrested and put into prison. Herod did this because John dared to criticize him. While he was alone in prison, John thought about Jesus. He sent messengers to Jesus asking, “Are you the one we’ve been expecting, or shall we look for another?” Jesus told the messengers to report what they had seen and heard, and also that “the poor have good tidings preached to them.” John remained in prison until he was put to death by Herod.

Discussion Questions

Why do you think John sent messengers to ask Jesus that question? John was a great man of faith. But even he needed reassurance when he was tempted to doubt. How does it help us to know that John struggled with doubt?
